During a visit with Mom and Dad yesterday, Mom said, "Oh, I ran across something the other day I thought you might like to have." Then she gave me this beautiful darning egg! Mom never used it much ("It just got in my way."), but it was given to her by my grandmother.
This means it must be AT LEAST 50 years old. I was just tickled pink to have it. Another link with my past, y'know?
You can tell that it was much used in its day; the varnish on the end has nearly been scratched away by many, many needles long ago.
I just love family heirlooms, don't you?
